Abstract
Suid-Afrika, 'n land waar eerste en derde wêreld mekaar op 'n unieke wyse ontmoet, staan voor 'n besondere uitdaging wat die opleiding van sy mannekrag betref. Sosiale, politieke maar veral ekonomiese faktore het die afgelope paar jaar ingrypende besinning en beplanning genood- saak wat gelei het tot 'n heeltemal nuwe bedeling op die arbeidsterrein. Dit kan aanvaar word dat die tagtigerjare dié tydperk in die land se geskiedenis sal wees wat as smeltkroes vir arbeidsbetrekkinge tussen verskillende etniese en kulturele groepe sal dien. Sukses op die arbeidsfront gaan van deurslaggewende betekenis in die verbetering van menseverhoudinge op alle vlakke van die Suid-Afrikaanse samele- wing wees. Daarom sal daar meer as verbygaande aandag aan interkul- turele kommunikasie in die arbeidsituasie en in besonder aan industriele opleiding gegee moet word.
