Open Access Statement
Open Access Statement
The JSR is committed to the principle of making scholarly research freely available to the global community. We believe that open access accelerates scientific progress and promotes a wider dissemination of knowledge. The JSR therefore publishes all articles under an open access model. This means that all articles are immediately available upon publication without any fees or barriers to access. Readers are free to
- Read
- Download
- Copy
- Distribute
- Search
- Link to the full text of articles
This permission is granted under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License, which allows for non-commercial reuse and distribution of the material with proper attribution to the authors and the journal.
We believe that open access publication fosters:
- Increased citation rates for articles
- Broader public engagement with research; and
- Enhanced collaboration among researchers worldwide
Use of DOI
Each article is allocated a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) as part of the metadata. This DOI should be cited as part of the article citation.
Author Self-Archiving
Authors are encouraged to deposit the final published version of their articles in their institutional repositories or on their personal websites. For any questions regarding our open access policy, the reader is encouraged to contact any member of our Editorial Team.
Article Processing Charges (APCs)
The JSR charges R8,000.00 per article for APCs. Included in this cost is the hosting of the journal on the UJ Press platform and the language editing for each article. Articles must be between 5,000 and 6,000 words, including the Reference list.
The JSR is committed to be as cost effective as possible. To this end none of the Editorial Team members is remunerated for the work they do. None of the peer reviewers are paid for reviews they do. The JSR is hosted by the UJ Press which charges a minimal amount to host the journal and provides the journal with wide coverage across multiple platforms. The cost savings made are passed on to the authors.
Postgraduate students may request a reduction of APCs by e-mailing the Editor-in-Chief.
