Additional Assistance

Page Fees and payment of reviewers

At a fee of R500.00 per article, the UJ Press will manage the page fee payment of authors on behalf of a journal.

At a fee of R1 000.00 per edition the UJ Press will manage the payment of all the reviewers used by a journal. The payment made to the reviewers will come from the journal account and not from the UJ Press.

ISSN number for a journal

The UJ Press will organise the ISSN number for a new journal.  There is no charge for this

Copy-editing of a journal

The UJ Press will outsource the copy-editing of a journal edition by sending it to one of the three vetted editors who are on our preferred supplier list.

The editor they choose to use will bill the journal directly.

Layout of a journal

The OJS system makes the layout of a journal easy  ̶  the journal editor can do it.  If a journal editor requires assistance with the layout of a journal edition the work can be outsourced to one of the two layout specialists on the UJ Press preferred supplier list.

The layout editor they choose to use will bill the journal directly.

Uploading article for each edition

The OJS system makes it possible for journal editors to upload the articles in any edition of their journal.

If journal editors would like assistance, the UJ Press will upload articles for them at a cost of R500.00 per article.

If journal editors would like back issues of the journal to be uploaded onto the system this can be done by the editors themselves or by the UJ Press at a cost of R1 000.00 per edition.

Social Media and Marketing

It is very important to ensure that our authors’ work reach as wide and diverse an audience as possible. One of the ways we support this is by actively engaging on social media across a range of platforms and channels.

twitter
Twitter is a microblogging and social networking service that enables people to send and read short messages. Users post and interact with messages known as "tweets".

It can be an effective way to connect with readers around the world. Twitter is what’s happening and what people are talking about right now.

How we use it: We use Twitter to connect and share with academic researchers, students, authors, and others around the world.

facebook
Facebook is a great place to connect with current and potential readers. This networking site allows users to create profiles or pages with photos, lists of personal interests, contact information and other personal details to communicate with their network of friends.

Facebook is a great platform for promoting your work and building your community by reading and responding directly to comments and questions from people all over the world.

How we use it: The UJ Library Facebook business page for our academic publishing allows us to link to videos and website content.

We use Facebook to promote the work of our authors by 'liking' pages they have developed, featuring videos they have created for our YouTube channel, and more.

linked in
LinkedIn is an online platform that connects the world's professionals. Through your profile, you can showcase your professional life, milestones, skills and interests.

LinkedIn is not only a tool for business or job hunting; it is a platform for the world of academia, research and education.

A metric that most academics need to monitor and measure is their impact. We allow you to engage on LinkedIn and ensure that your profile allows people to find you via a name search on Google (if you update your LinkedIn URL to your own name rather than the standard provided URL).

We will share your publications in a post in the newsfeed that can reach the people you are connected to, and allow your connections to give and receive endorsements and recommendations.

LinkedIn allows you to participate in LinkedIn Groups and share your knowledge and expertise.

By adding your Orcid ID in the Contact Info Websites section people can track your work.

spotify
There are many different kinds of podcasts and radio shows. While some are for news, entertainment, music, or other topics, there are also many educational podcasts. Educational podcasts are for anyone who wants to learn through audio lectures, discussions, and interviews.

The Library hosts numerous podcast conversations with academics and researchers. This gives your research exposure. Podcasting is a free service that allows Internet users to pull audio files from a podcasting website to listen to on their computers or personal digital audio players. Simply put: a podcast is an audio programme, just like Talk Radio.

These podcasts are uploaded on Soundcloud,  iTunes and Spotify.
