About the Journal
The Journal of Digital Food, Energy & Water Systems (JD-FEWS) is a peer-reviewed bi-annual publication that publishes recent and innovative deployment of emerging digital technologies in Food, Energy, and Water Systems. Food, energy, and water resources are interconnected scarce resources that require systems and technologies that will foster their sustainable management and effective utilization. The journal is also interested in articles that explore the nexus between at least two of these resources. The journal considers the following topics as long as they are deployed in the Food, Energy & Water space:

Peer Review process
The following details outline the peer review process by JD – FEWS in publishing manuscripts that are suitable to the scope and objectives of the Journal, without favoritism and mediocrity;
- JD – FEWS operates a blind peer review process.
- Submitted manuscripts are assessed by the Editor – in – chief for suitability with the journal scope and objectives.
- Suitable manuscripts are assigned to a minimum of two independent expert reviewers in accessing and evaluating the quality of the manuscript in terms of suitability with the aims & scope of JD – FEWS, informative nature of the title & abstract, adequacy of literature, originality of the article, gap identification and filling, the accuracy of methodology, in-depth discussion, appropriate referencing among other variables.
- Based on the reviewer’s decision to accept with minor or major revision or outright rejection, the former option leads to plagiarism check (using Turnitin) within the 10 – 15% similarity index criterion.
- The Editor – in – chief makes appropriate decisions going forward.
- Accepted articles are English edited and reformatted in JD – FEWS publication format.
Note:
- The Editor–in–Chief can’t submit to the Journal to avoid conflict of interest.
- Editors are not involved in making decisions about papers that have been written by themselves or written by colleagues, as such submissions are peer-reviewed independently of the Editor’s input.
Archiving
The JD – FEWS is currently archived through CLOCKSS, LOCKSS and the PKP PN.
Repository
The JD – FEWS allows authors to deposit versions of their work in institutional repositories or repositories of their choice.
