About the Journal

The scope to the journal is to facilitate interdisciplinary research and discourse around contemporary design practice, philosophy, research and education that centres perspectives from Afrika and the Global South while situating such dialogue within an international arena. Our journal is relevant to design practitioners, researchers, educators, theorists and historians invested in critical engagement with issues pertaining to the broader field of design and with furthering design and design education as a catalyst for positive social change.

Our ethos is rooted in the belief that design education and research should be catalysts for positive change, fostering innovation while preserving and promoting the unique narratives and perspectives of Afrika. We aim to curate insightful and creative interdisciplinary discourse towards the continual evolution of a vibrant design ecosystem across the Afrikan landscape.
